Arthur Hailey is without doubt the finest storyteller of the 2nd half of the twentieth century. Airport was about how a airport worked and stories and plots about the people who worked there and used the airport. This novel had up to 4 stories going on at once but all join up at the end. Which ever Arthur Hailey book you read they are impossible to put down. Whatever the subject be it Newspaper publishing running a hotel or power distribution he does massive research on the subject. I really enjoyed this book and the Characters in it.
This is definitely a VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED novel!

If the basic income for all is not introduced, it is fraught with insane spending on the creation of unnecessary jobs, or high unemployment, which will lead to social upheavals. It will be necessary to increase the budget of the country almost doubled in order to pay all residents the basic income, regardless of their productive work activity. It is a tax on the total mass of financial operations that will allow for a painless for all to double the state budget, not only free people from high taxes, but also significantly improve their well-being and confidence in the future, and therefore prevent social disasters.

This book raises questions why our world is such, and not different, showing a lot of opportunities to create other worlds, in some ways similar, and in some things fundamentally different from ours. The book offers the highest moral law of the creators — not to create imperfect worlds, painful for their inhabitants.
